GARDEN MASTERS - PROJECT AT BIRCHVIEW DRIVE, GLASGOW, G76 8SW

Project Overview

A landscaping project was undertaken in Busby, Glasgow, involving the complete replacement of the rear garden with Tobermore Historic Heather paving. The project also included the installation of a small perimeter fence to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.

Client Requirements

The client expressed the desire for a comprehensive transformation of their rear garden space. The key elements of the project included removing the existing paving, preparing the ground using Type 1 hardcore, and installing Tobermore Historic Heather paving. Additionally, the client wanted a small fence to be erected around the perimeter of the garden.

Location

The project was located in Busby, a suburb in the south of Glasgow. The specific geographical and climatic considerations of the area were taken into account during the planning and execution of the project.

Scope of Work

  1. Removal of Old Paving: The first phase involved the meticulous removal of the existing paving in the rear garden. Care was taken to ensure the proper disposal of the old materials, adhering to environmental guidelines.

  2. Ground Preparation: The ground was prepared using Type 1 hardcore, a durable and compactible material suitable for creating a stable base for paving. This step aimed to establish a solid foundation to support the new Tobermore Historic Heather paving.

  3. Sanding and Screeding: Prior to laying the new paving, the ground was carefully sanded and screeded. This process ensured a level surface and facilitated the proper alignment and placement of the Tobermore Historic Heather paving.

  4. Tobermore Historic Heather Paving Installation: The centrepiece of the project was the installation of Tobermore Historic Heather paving. Known for its quality and aesthetic appeal, this paving solution was chosen to create a visually appealing and durable surface in the rear garden.

  5. Perimeter Fence Construction: To complete the overall look of the garden and provide a sense of enclosure, a small fence was erected along the perimeter. The fence materials and design were selected to complement the Tobermore Historic Heather paving and enhance the overall aesthetic of the outdoor space.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Logistical Challenges: Coordinating the removal of old materials and the delivery of new paving materials required careful planning to minimise disruptions to the client and neighbours.

  • Weather Considerations: Wet and windy weather conditions, common in Glasgow, were taken into account during the project timeline to ensure that work proceeded efficiently and effectively.

Outcome

The completion of the project resulted in a transformed rear garden space in Busby, Glasgow. The Tobermore Historic Heather paving not only added a touch of elegance but also provided a durable and low-maintenance surface. The small perimeter fence contributed to the overall design, offering a sense of enclosure and privacy.

Client Satisfaction

The client expressed satisfaction with the final outcome, citing the professionalism of the team, the quality of materials used, and the attention to detail throughout the project.

Lessons Learned

The project highlighted the importance of thorough planning, effective communication, and adaptability to address unforeseen challenges. Additionally, considering local climate conditions and material durability is crucial for the success of outdoor landscaping projects in specific geographical locations. This case study serves as a testament to the successful execution of a landscaping project, showcasing the seamless integration of high quality paving and a carefully designed perimeter fence to create a visually appealing and functional outdoor space.

Landscaped garden

We used Garden Masters to transform our large drive and backdoor. It has been totally transformed, drive has monoblock paving and backdoor has large slabbed patio areas with some turf laid as well, plus fencing round the whole back garden. Can't believe it's the same garden. We are so happy with the outcome of both areas, Paul and his team were great throughout the whole process, very helpful and worked hard to create the outcome that we wanted. Would totally recommend them for all garden, fencing and paving work
